Work in progress: flat ended narrow spoon in spalted beech. The grain is beautiful. Not so happy with the shape of the end of the handle which probably needs to be squared off.

    Hello fellow wood carvers.

I want to know where do you get your wood?

I've got a big basswood branch which I cut with a saw, however material is round, which causes more work. Ordering blocks online is too expensive and I can't cut wood into blocks because I don't have tools for it only a handsaw.

Removing nicks from a gouge blade?

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 07:22 PM PDT

Hi, I'm working on an unstable table with a vice attached to it, and I've hit my gouge against the vice a few times. There are nicks in the blade, not huge, but I guess I notice them. Can they be removed with a diamond stone/strop, or does it need to be reground? Do people normally regrind their tools anyways? Should I just ignore it and be more careful in the future?
