What bare minimum carving tools do I need to be able to carve a ball and claw foot, and a basic shell for fine furniture?

Like the title says, I want to learn these two things for my future furniture, but don't have a lot of spending money. Advice?

Another imperfect, handcarved bowl.. Black cherry. It was a bear in some stages, but a pleasure in others. Definitely the best I've ever done on the inside. But, probably the worst on the outside.. Still learning. I'm happy with it.

I need a small chainsaw just to get the basic shape of things. Any suggestions?

I don't work with anything real big, a log may b up to 6" maybe, just lookin for recommendations on a good reliable small chainsaw. I've seen lil 6/8" blades but don't know if it's a POS or something decent. I do work with mainly very hard wood. Thanks y'all
