Wood carving Christmas ornament time. Finished these this week. Bass wood and watered down acrylic paint with spray sealer. Painting always seemed to take longer than I think it should.

I received a bunch of wood carving and engraving tools and I've identified all but three of them.

The two on the left are very similar to each other. They both feature a handle and 'tang' like part that holds a replaceable blade. The blade part is shaped like a shoe with the long edge sharpened. Looks like it would function similar to a chisel.

The tool on the far right tapers to a point that is on a strait line with the the shank.

For further context, some of the carving tools were in a cardboard box labeled for "wood carving and linoleum block carving". Most of the tools in the collection were small carving chisels, gouges, and other blades but also a nice set of palm "lozenge gravers" plus a few fine putty knives. Given that, they may have been more used for linoleum than wood.

Background: I don't know much about the man these tools came from. My wife was buying a used easel and the gentleman gave her bunch of his art supplies including paints, brushes, unused canvases, inks, and also a wooden box of the tools. Turns out he was retiring into a smaller home and needed to downsize... he was happy to pass everything to a mutual multi-media artist like my wife. Sadly, she was so excited about the windfall that she didn't ask questions. lol
