    Finishing a holly ring?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2021 06:54 PM PDT

Hey all. I'm carving a ring out of dried holly but need advice on how to finish it. Is there any finish that wouldn't ruin the white color and that would also be okay for regular wear? Thanks in advance.

Travelling abroad with knives/axes. Security, police checks,...

Just wondering what y'all do when it comes to going abroad and you want to take some tools with you. I often travel light so I usually only have carry-on luggage.

Would you just check in your whole bag? (And incur the surcharge this involves?)

Any anecdotes or stories from packing blades on any of your travels? Awkward moments with the authorities, etc?

    Tips or pointers?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2021 12:42 PM PDT

Hi, I intend to carve a lightsaber handle from a hank of 4×4. I have never carved anything before except some basic whittling. Any tips anyone can share on how to mark my piece and what to carve with?
