A Beech Whale. Started carving in March 2020 and this probably the thing that I'm most proud of so far.

Just started playing around with wood carving this year with some branches I cut from my trees. This is my best so far. Wooden letter opener.

I have a hardwood branch, that coincidentally has the perfect height and shape to make a custom cane. If there is someone that is interested in carving the cane, I would love to discuss pricing and design. I have only two preferences for the head/handpiece of the cane, one side is a wolf head and the other side is a human skull.

    Beginner's Basswood Question

    Hello All-

Recently started carving (a month in) and have been watching a lot of Doug Linker vids.

His cuts are very clean and precise- but when I'm working on something, I get a lot of... scrapes? Loose basswood in my cuts? Not sure what to call it (see photo). The v-tool cuts on the beard was just me experimenting.

Is this because my tools aren't sharp enough? Or am I being impatient? :)

    Any comments/help are greatly welcomed.
