Questions after watching a Spoon Carving Video

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 02:45 PM PST

Some questions after watching this video: https://youtu.be/N6GLVE1JONc

    • When I try to use a knife to shave away the spoon handle, all I get is a shutter. Is he using much greener wood?
    • When carving bowl of spoon with a hook knife, he seems to effortlessly shave the bowl. I end up with more of a chipping result. Does this action also require greener wood?
    • I like the idea of using an axe/hatchet for roughing. Has anyone tried this and if so are there any preferred hatchets?
