I recently bought my first carving set and don't know how to use 2 of my knives!

Hi! As the title says, I don't know how to properly use the rightmost knives... Can somebody give me some guidance? I'm also looking for a webpage/video which explains the different woodcarving tools and how to use them properly.

    Cheers!

Any advice on carving a cherry heart?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:23 AM PDT

So i recently started woodcarving, and I want to do the following project:

I'm planning on carving a wooden heart from cherry, as a way to propose to my girlfriend. It would have a compartment for the ring, and 'will you marry me?' carved in it.

I'm planning on mostly using a drawknife and a carving knife + a V-tool for the text.

Any advice, tips or things to watch out for?

    Rings keep breaking

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:57 PM PDT

So I've made 4 rings. Ive used red maple, elm, oak, and ash maple. They've all broken. Well, i lost the oak one but don't remember taking it off anywhere so im assuming it broke and fell off my finger. My question is: how do i keep my rings from breaking? Do i need to seal them? If i make them any thicker i wont be able to wear them comfortably. Any suggestions or tips would be welcome.
