First carving ever, made a little tablespoon, that turned into a rabbit as I was carving, so I went with it.

I’m pretty new. Help me improve. I made this little fish without a pattern but he could be so much better. I just don’t know how. Feel free to critique the product or my workmanship. Just help me improve.

    Tool recommendations?

    Hey folks,

I have a pretty decent sized burl that I was thinking of carving into a mask but wasn't sure what kind of tools might be good for the job. I've let the burl dry out for almost a year so it should be easy to work. I don't want to take off all that much but I think it would be more than a knife would handle. I was looking at Lee Valleys' basic carving set but if anyone knows of something better and or cheaper I'd like to hear it.

I am Canadian also so options may be limited.

Thanks, any input would be appreciated.

I inherited several of my great grandmothers carvings and as you can see they have been neglected with dust. Any tips on cleaning them?
