Second WIP picture of my wooden ball jointed doll. I had to start over the face 4 times total after the first post of this project here. Mostly in basswood and birch wood on some parts. Model is the famous painting by Vermeer.

Wabi-sabi eating spoon made from apple wood. Finished with mineral oil. This is my second spoon I've completed. I've had two break on me in-between this one and the first. Have you any of you broken a couple of spoons in your woodcarving journey?

    Beginner looking for tool recommendations.

Looking to pass the time during quarantine, new to it all. Want to make spoons/chess pieces.

I understand I need a straight knife, hook knife, strop, compound, glove and sandpaper.

Does anyone have recommendations that wont break the bank for the knives/strop+compound?

I know the reccomended, Drake, Mora, Heiv, but can I get speciifc # recommendations for a first timer?

Hi! I've been interested in carving for a while and with the lockdown in my country I thought now was a good time, problem is I don't know where to get a decent, relatively cheap set of tools for basic carving, any recommendations? Thanks!

I want to begin carving simple small figures. Would this set be appropriate for learning?

There's the set I'm interested in getting with a little bit of basswood. Please keep in mind I'm a complete beginner and will be starting from scratch.
