Fun project for scraps! Baby rattle with cherry core and red oak, mahogany and torrefied maple outsides. Really simple but quite beautiful I think!

Edit: I have a dremel and hand tools such as a wide assortment of chisels.

Advice needed re: sealer/finish. Details in post.

Hi all. I do a lot of basswood carving, and have been using polyurethane to finish things up because, well, I'm inexperienced in that area.

I need something that will leave a very thin coat, have a clear option, and will not leave behind reside once it has dried.

Suggestions, and your reasoning behind them, please?
