    Impressed that you liked rabbit figure and today carved Mock Turtle draft from basswood. Not the best wood for final creation - it is too soft and cannot be polished well, but helps to carve quickly

    I'm not a wood carver myself, but this caught my eye at the thrift store yesterday so I bought it. It's 8.5 inches high and 6 inches wide at the base. I'm surprised by how heavy it is. It's signed on the bottom Sinclair Edwards. Has anyone heard of him?
