Handcarved African Mahogany. Absolutely beautiful wood. Pictures just don't do it justice. Depending on how the light hits, it changes from copper to bronze, or from red to orange. I just wish it wasn't quite so hard to carve.. Anyhow.. I'm getting better. Slowly.

Do Flexcut knives work well with dried wood?

I want to move away from my Swiss army knife and get a set of actual carving knives and gouges, so I have better control and can do finer details. I usually gather dead and down wood usually from fallen branches from juniper, basswood, oak, apple, pine, mulberry and maple. (Local neighborhood city trees)

I've heard they're good with green wood, but I don't often get a chance to gather my own greenwood unless its yard waste and its usually juniper, honeysuckle or Norway maple.
