Hey guys, just thought I would share another video I made. Hope you find it useful! It's an easy Halloween project. Made a free pattern to go with it as well!

Where do you get your wood?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 07:32 AM PDT

Hi all, I'm pretty new to carving and loving it - but I am struggling to find the right wood near me. I live in the north of the UK (near York) and am looking for a decent supplier of dried wood blanks. Until now I've been buying Lime from Amazon which I don't think is the most sustainable!

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

I'm crying please help I have trouble carving a shark.

I'm crying please help I have trouble carving a shark.

I started carving wood and I wanted to carve out a shark. I cut out a block of black alder (it was originally a sauna beam) and I bought a knives set (11euros) and I spent a lot of hours trying to carve out a shark but in the process, I ditched its dorsal fin and pectoral fins because it was already a challenge to cut out its tail (still didn't manage to do this) after giving up on knives I started to carve with sandpaper but still, nothing good came out. A lot of times my knife would get stuck in the process of cutting and I had to find another method to take off a halfway cut wood chip. I already have 4 cuts on my fingers I really don't know what to do anymore please help? Do you have any more tips on what should I do to get better or what should I change? Serious answers only

My results after 4 cuts and several hours of carving with knives and sandpaper in the photos.

DISCLAIMER: I have had no experience in carving before
