First time ever woodcarving, planning to make a knife with only a knife. Also i'm only 14 years old so i'm sorry because it's not going to be too good. Also i'm probably going to post picture daily on my progress. Wish me luck!

Do you need a spokeshave for wood spoons or can I just smooth it out with a belt sander?

Hi all - new to carving and wondering if I actually need a spokeshave or if I can just round out the edges with a belt sander instead. Thanks!
