    Exotic wood carving blocks

For those who do it... how are people getting hold of large(ish) exotic blocks? Specifically I'm looking at things in the style of https://milocreekcarving.com. I've glued up basswood and hardwood blocks before, below is a 20" mahogany brownie I'm working on, but I'd like to expand into some of the other South American species. Joint and glue 8/4 or is there a secret source for big pieces?
