Just got into whittling to pass the time at work. I know it’s pretty rough but I’m excited to have finished my first little guy. Filled with sharpie but I’m gonna get some paint for my next one. I’m stoked to start improving

My first wood carving! Gonna be a christmas gift to my girlfriend! I think next time I won't use old fire wood, way to soft! But a good start.

    Where do you get wood?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:17 PM PST

Hey all, Ive only very recently started to get into wood carving - I have a few of the starter tools and have purchased spoon blanks online before but blanks always seem a bit expensive for what it is.. so where should I look for wood?

I messaged a local woodshop to see if I could buy up some scraps just to practice but they have yet to return my message.

I live on Ontario Canada and don't really live near woods + don't have a handaxe yet.

Where do you guys get wood for projects?

    TIA!
