    Osage for carving things?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 05:20 AM PST

Has anyone used osage much? Specifically for things like spoons and kuksas? I've carved a little with osage and know it takes a lot of work most of the time but was curious how well it worked for spoons/bowls/cups. I only ask because I know where I can harvest many logs from a hedgerow that a farmer is planning remove and would be fine with me taking some away for them

What rotary tool do you all recommend for a new guy?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:05 PM PST

Very new to carving. As a matter of face just got my first flexcut whittlin jack. I am looking for a rotary tool to also do small type carvings. I like doing the small stuff like the 2 inch blocks of basswood. Any suggestions that won't break the bank? Has anyone used this one CHICAGO ELECTRIC Flexible Shaft Grinder/Carver Rotary Tool? Got great reviews and only 45.00.

I’m carving a sword and I’m not sure if it has enough stability to hold up when I glue the pieces together. Can I get some help with this?
