My first carving. Some old pine firewood that I found laying around. It took many hours to finish. It was too late when I realised half of it was rotten. I filled the rotten part with epoxy and decided to make it a lamp. [OC]

Are there other kits like Beavercraft?

My first carving project was the "comfort bird" from Beavercraft. It was great because it was a simple project but also because it came with wood cut to the right size (no bandsaw in my apartment!) and patterns to glue on the side and top, which as a new wood carver, I found really helpful. Are there other kits like this out there? Alternately, is there a good place to look online for side/top patterns?

Had to replicate a trim piece on a fireplace mantel leg that was originally carved in the late 1700s to early 1800s. They somehow lost the centerpiece. I was commissioned to hand carve a new piece. Please share with me your thoughts on how you think I did. Thank you.
