Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:54 AM PST I have a pine tree stump that I'd like to carve something into. It's 5 feet tall and 1 foot diameter. I have basically no carving experience 😆but I'm not afraid! [link] [comments]

What’s the best way to break down wood for hand carving? Posted: 09 Feb 2021 07:47 PM PST Hi, I've recently gotten into woodcarving and have made some spoons, couple of knives and a small bowl. I love it! The only thing is they were all made from small pieces of uniform pre cut wood. I've been given a small log of beautiful Australian silky oak that was recently cut. I can split it with a wood splitter but it's a pain in the ass to get it smaller to a workable size for spoons etc. Been using a coping saw for metal...nightmare. Unsure if I should get a small sharp hatchet or a saw? I have a limited budget so it's one or the other right now but want to invest in a good quality tool. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Where to source large wood stumps !? Posted: 09 Feb 2021 02:22 PM PST I guess that's really the question. I tried to google large wood blocks and only turned up 4"x4" turning blocks. I'm hoping for something more like 4'x3'x3'!! Thank you!! [link] [comments] |
