Posted: 24 Aug 2021 04:19 PM PDT I've been woodcarving for only a little while and I find that my knives aren't sharp enough. I got this knife kit and they were very sharp at first. I'm not sure if it's my fault for not knowing how to sharpen them properly, I try to follow what the tutorials tell me, or if maybe the stone that it comes with isn't good enough. A lot of the places I look recommend getting a strop but I'm not sure if I'm willing to go for one of those yet since I'm still trying the hobby on for size. tl;dr I'm having trouble getting my knives sharp and don't know enough to identify what exactly the problem is [link] [comments]
Recommendations for a Brand Newbie to the art Posted: 24 Aug 2021 10:02 AM PDT Hi all! I am looking to start with wood carving. I am an artist, and an occasional sculptor, so working with my hands isn't new, nor is working in 3D, but beyond that, I'm starting from the zero. Are there any YouTube videos that are preferred to get started? What are your favorite resources? What tips would you give to someone just starting out? Thanks! [link] [comments]
