    Hey guys,

I joined the community a few months ago and saw some beautifoul artwork since then. I want to learn this amazing art as well. A lot of you will be doing this hobby for years. So I'm curious, what are your tips for learning how to carve wood? What way do you recommend to learn it (YouTube, books, courses with a teacher)? What are the things you would like to have had when you starting? What tools are beginner-friendly?

I'm absolutely happy for every advice. Thank you guys and have an awesome evening/day! :)

Wood Carving Tools Powcan 5 in 1 Carving Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QV1WWPD/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_92ylEbAEYB7H1

As the title says would this be a good set for a beginner? Been wanting to get in to woodcarving and woodwork for ages but keep coming up with other things to do.

I'm a gardener and farmhand so I have access to various types of wood from work and it always seems so wasteful to not do something with it. I've had a lot of bad weather days recently due to floods so I want something to keep me occupied during those days that doesn't seem like a waste of time. Feel like I need to be doing something creative but don't have any workshop space at the moment.

Any tips would be very welcome.

    Thanks.

Saw at an antique store in with the kitchen stuff. The rings are loose and will spin on them. Not sure the purpose but kind of cool.
