Something cheap just to see if I like it. I'd particularly like to try making grooves and filling them with resin.

Relief carving practice- A progression. Original was 2013, second attempt was 2016 and latest was now. Faces are a real challenge and in between other projects, I dust off this old favorite and see if I've learned anything

    First Carving!

I carved a little boat for my grandmother for Christmas- boatbuilding and the water have been a major feature in her life, and it's a nice simple outline with no details really needed so it was great for a first carving! I had to use glue to keep the sail piece on but even before the glue the sail actually stayed upright on it's own which I was surprised by!
