Helpful tutorials on carving people Posted: 12 Dec 2020 06:17 AM PST So I inherited a set of word carving tools from my grandfather which includes a partially finished crucifix. The cross is finished and there is a very general outline of Jesus started. I've done some wood carving like 15 years ago, and I've done a decent amount of woodworking recently. But I'm honestly pretty scared to tackle this project because I have one shot to make it right. Are there any good tutorial videos that focus specifically on carving humans? Are there other generally good tutorials that could be of assistance? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:29 AM PST What's everyone using for natural stains for Basswood? Since my projects are so small, I don't want to buy a bunch of containers of stain. I'm mainly looking for something to bring out some depth in the wood. I've heard of using olive oil. Would a food-grade oil like that not turn rancid after awhile? I've also heard of using a coffee slurry. I'm open to ideas! [link] [comments]
