Is this wood any good for carving?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2021 01:22 AM PDT

Hi I'm a complete beginner to wood carving. I've just finished building some decking, a raised bed and an outdoor toybox and I have a lot of offcuts of this wood - https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Exterior-Grade-Joist---47-x-150-mm-x-2-4m/p/218157

Is it any good for carving? It seems quite hard. If it is workable I'm up for buying some wood carving tools and playing around with it but don't want to spend money on tools if the wood is unworkable.

    Any advice?
