Just finished a test carving on basswood and thought it looked pretty good so I did some light sanding and thought I would "stain" it with mineral oil. Would that be a good stain? I really just want to darken it and help give more depth because the basswood is so light.

I really dont want to do anything too extreme with stains so I'm thinking mineral oil would suffice. Would that work or any other stains you would reccomend? I do mainly use basswood
