Beginner here! Problems with cutting one side of basswood Posted: 24 Dec 2021 05:25 AM PST https://postimg.cc/KKp2mt7P https://postimg.cc/p5CTYmbq https://postimg.cc/HVfx0DfG images for reference This is my first project ever, I watched a lot of videos saying Basswood is arguably the best for beginners, so I got a piece of basswood from a woodworker in my town (I live in a small town and there are no wood carving shops anywhere in my town) I also got a very sharp woodcarving knife from the Internet but I have no sharpening tools. Basically what im having problems with is this side seen in the pictures, it very rough and I almost feel like im breaking my knife trying to carve it, I cant even cut real pieces out its really hard and I'm confused how on youtube everyone makes it look so smooth and simple even for this rough part. Any tips are welcome [link] [comments] |
