Okay, I am living in a van, I see a freshly cut green log discarded on the side of the road. I toss it in the van to carve it later in the day. What would you do to stop it from splitting?

I've only ever successfully worked dried wood, so this is way out of my wheelhouse. Every time I have tried to work green or wet wood it has been a disaster. So I'm begging for the knowledge of the group to guide me.

You can presume that you have access to home improvement stores, woodworking stores, Amazon, etc. But I don't have anything like a garage or a proper climate controlled shop. I don't mind throwing money at this problem, I just need to figure out a stable solution.

    Thanks.

[QUESTION] Trying really hard to learn about the different types/uses for rotary tool tips, but coming up basically empty.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:31 AM PST

I know what the wood carving tips look like (and how they completely cancel out the awesome deal I got on the rotary tool itself), and I've looked at some youtube videos where they use different tips for different things, and I've found lots of charts that show different tip/burr types and says what they're CALLED ... but it's been pretty much impossible so far to find a good comprehensive list or chart of the different tip types and what they're actually INTENDED to be used for! So far, it seems as if these tips are just made and their use is some kind of creative/preferential afterthought. Were they not made with a specific purpose in mind? Help me out here. Thanks in advance.
