Spoon #2. Meranti, sanded, oiled and waxed. Meranti is not a traditional carving wood as it is soft and flaky and does not sand that smooth. But I'm pleased with the curve!

    Help With Picking Out Knives

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 03:41 PM PDT

I am looking to get into wood carving and would need some knife suggestions. From my understanding drake is an excellent brand but I am lost on what to buy from their website. From what I have seen you would want to get a detail knife, a V knife (if thats what they are called) and a detail knife. When I go onto drakes website I can find a detail knife but I dont see a roughing knife anywhere in their selection. Im not totally set on Drake knives so any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance.
