Rocky Mountain Juniper Faces, Me 2020. The wood is always giving an interesting finish. The crack was always there and the red dots are from branches. If you natural stain it quickly it will keep the red color.

Complete newbie here, and I have several questions

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 05:09 PM PDT

I haven't even bought a set yet, nor have I tried with someone else's. What (relatively cheap) set do you recommend?

What kind of wood do I use?

What kind of gloves/protection should I buy?

Any simple projects to begin with?

Also just looking for general tips

    Pipe tips

Almost finished making my first carving project, one of those old favored wooden pipes. I made the bowl out of burr oak because it doesn't have any toxic elements (correct me if I'm wrong) what I'm looking for now is what kind of polish or stain should I be using to not get cancer? Also the stem is made of colorful canary wood I would take recommendations on that too
