There's a hole in the market for....

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 08:57 PM PDT

    ... USA-based chess-piece makers.

I make hardwood chessboards and since I started selling them a few months back I have been looking high and low for a place to purchase (or recommend my customers purchase) wooden chess pieces that are made in the USA.

There are of lots of pieces made in India and even Ukraine, and many of them are great and beautiful, but it just seems crazy that I can't find a person or company in the US.

Anyone on here know of any? Or, anyone on here want to try out their making some and perhaps fill a gap in the market and earn some $$$? Because you probably could!

Where to buy Pfeil chip carving knives in the Bay Area

    Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:55 AM PDT

Hello all. I'd like to buy some Pfeil chip carving knives (I think the set with #2 and #9), and I was looking on woodcraft.com, but then I saw the shipping is $20, which feels criminal to me

Does anyone know of anywhere in the northern CA Bay Area (Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, etc) that sells Pfeil tools? I've been meaning to go to Hida Tool in Berkeley, but I know they mainly carry Japanese tools

    Thanks for any help!

Question about where I should put the grip on my Walkingstick for hiking

    Posted: 23 Jun 2021 01:57 PM PDT

So I have a really cool Walkingstick I've been working on for a while it has an absolutely perfect grip. And recently I've been trying to decide whether or not I should make the stick a bit shorter.

But my question comes down to being, should I place my grip so that my elbow is at 90°? I'm really not sure what to do here
