    Beginner's guide to woodcarving, please?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 03:07 PM PST

Over the past few weeks I've been wanting to pick up an activity, woodcarving caught my eye and I'm planning on getting started cos I really became interested. I would like to focus on making small figurines and maybe some kitchen utensils, nothing too ambitious. But I have some questions.

First off, what kind of tools should a beginner from 0 start with? I've seen some use what looks like a Mora knife and a curved one. What do you guys say?

What's the standard price for a reliable tool?

How do take care of my tools and keep them sharp?

Any other kind of advice is really appreciated! I'd love to get into this handmade hobby in the best way. Thanks!
